Rosé (not a recipe, just appreciation)

I remember my very first glass of rosé. I was in college living in New York City. On a hot summer evening, I went to meet my best friend for dinner at a café in the East Village. I got a perfect little table for two outside and waited for her while I browsed the menu and listened to the taxis go by on the street. They had a happy hour special with $5 glasses of rose and Chardonnay. I like to call myself an ABC wine drinker (Anything But Chardonnay) so I told the waiter I would have the rosé. He brought out a beautiful, light peach colored wine in a marvelous, tall, stemmed glass. I took that first sip and fell in love. It was crisp, dry and tasted like a glass of light pink flowers.

From that day on, rosé became my favorite wine to drink. Some say rosé is just a spring and summer wine. I beg to differ. I’ll drinking it anytime, during any season, sparkling or still.

Here are my favorite rosés:

Wolffer Estate Rosé
Jean-Luc Colombo Cape Bleue Rosé
